What Should I Do If My Own Pet Is Missing?
We do not post our daily stray animal intakes on social media so if your pet is missing please come to Grand Strand Humane Society to see if your lost pet is here and fill out a lost pet report. Remember to bring a recent picture of your pet. Posting lost pet flyers in your neighborhood and at your own home is also suggested. Contact local social media sites such as, Lost Pets Horry/Georgetown County’s on Facebook, to register and check for your missing pet. Check back with us often. When we take in a stray animal our first course of action is scanning it for a microchip. Remember, updated and current identification is your pet’s best ticket home. It’s best to purchase an ID tag for your pet and microchip them. We can take care of the microchip for you at our veterinary clinic.
If you live outside of the Myrtle Beach city limits and your pet is missing please remember to check with the Horry County Animal Care Center in Conway which services the residents throughout Horry Country. They offer an online Lost Animal Report submission option which you can find by clicking on this link. HCACC LOST ANIMAL REPORT

I Found A Wild Animal Hurt In My Yard, What Should I Do?
Do not try to touch or move the animal. They can be dangerous or have a disease you could pass to your own pet. Refer to the Wildlife Interactions page on our website for more information.
Remember, we only take in domestic animals such as dogs, cats, guinea pigs, rabbits, hamsters etc. Should you find a wild animal hurt in your yard there are a few things you can do depending on the type of animal. We are pleased to partner with 2 local wildlife rehabilitation rescues that are licensed and may be able to help. The first is Carolina Wildlife Rehabilitation Center. They specialize in birds, squirrels, opossums, turtles and other small animals. They can also assist with other animals in transporting them to our other partner which is Wild Things Freedom Center. You will find the contact information for both of these facilities below. If you are unsure of what to do please contact the Animal Control office for your area to report it and they can help you get in touch with the right wildlife rescue and rehabilitation facility that specializes in that animal.
